ABBEVILLE. . .John W. (Billy) Clenney, a resident of County Road 133, Abbeville, died Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his home. He was 74.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 18 2012 in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sardis Baptist Church “Window Fund”, c/o Olivia Bush, 4840 County Road 71, Shorterville, AL 36373.

Billy Clenney was born and reared in Henry County, son of the late Robert Sowell Clenney and Kathleen Armstrong Clenney. He lived in the Sardis community most of his life where he was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church. Billy was retired from Harbert Construction Company of Birmingham as a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his son, Holley Edward Clenney and a sister, Betty Clenney Mims.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Charlotte Hartzog Clenney, Abbeville; two sisters, Robbie Weir (Jack), Vacaville, CA; and Nancy McPherson (Bryan), Huntsville, AL.
