Leonard M.(Doc) Williams

U.S. Veteran

NAPIER FIELD…Leonard M. (Doc) Williams, a resident of Napier Field, died Thursday afternoon, June 28, 2012, in a Dothan hospital. He was 87.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 1, 2012, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend David Willis and Reverend Dwight Deal officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.

The family requests the omission of flowers.

Mr. Williams was born and reared in the Camp Branch Hill community of Dale County, near Pinckard, son of the late Archie Williams and Alma Lillie Vinson Williams. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Williams lived in Napier Field most of his adult lifetime. He was a member of the Midland City Baptist Church but attended the Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dothan. He was retired as a supervisor from Rebwood Furniture Manufacturing in Headland and in earlier years was employed by Dolly Madison Industries in Napier Field. Mr. Williams formerly served two terms as a member of the Napier Field Town Council. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Bettie Hagler Williams, two sisters, Willowbee Sasnett and Kate Hickman and three brothers, Comer Williams, Marvin Love, and J.L. Williams.

Surviving relatives include two sons, Kent Williams, Napier Field and Tim B. Williams and wife, Lora Reed Williams, Indianapolis, IN; a granddaughter, Jessica Pree Williams and a grandson, Tyler Reed Williams; a sister, Addie Ree Scott, Pinckard; a sister-in-law, Mollie Ruth Marshall Cain, Dothan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
